Job Description:

Position Summary

Performs general and preventative maintenance to Facility Operating Systems, repairs facility structures and aircraft ground support equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Accomplish and maintain monthly inspection of all GSE including FACILITY requirements
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair building structures such as the hangar doors and windows
  • Monitors and repairs all systems in boiler room for proper operation
  • Maintain and repair aircraft ground support equipment such as power carts, tugs, and scissors lifts etc.
  • Supervise and assist all outside facility contractors and vendors
  • Installs, services, and repairs electric motors, heaters, coolers, refrigerators, and other related equipment using various hand power tools of the maintenance trades
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs air compressors and air conditioning equipment using various machine tools
  • Maintains central steam and chemical water treatment systems, as well as other systems, using gauges and other test instruments to diagnose malfunctions and mechanic hand and power tools to disassemble, repair, and reassemble system components
  • Moves and replaces machinery and auxiliary apparatus using hand and electric trucks, fork lifts, and dollies
  • Fabricates, assembles, and test parts as needed, such as various pumps, valves, heaters, compressors, and other mechanical system parts using metal fabricating tools, common hand tools, power tools, and welding torches
  • Replaces fuses, light bulbs, circuit breakers, electric switches, and other electrical equipment following electrical specifications
  • Repairs broken furniture or building fixtures using carpenter’s hand tools and power equipment
  • Performs building and/or masonry repair such as preparing cement, installing reinforcing steel rods, patching and finishing cement work, replacing damaged masonry
  • May perform grounds maintenance such as mowing and trimming grass, grading roads, pesticide application and removing snow
  • May assist in training lower-level Maintenance Mechanics and others
  • Drives for general hauling of supplies, equipment and material
  • May requisition equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Performs related work as assigned

 

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/equivalent.
  • Prior mechanical experience / background required
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.
  • Valid driver license required
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Verbal/written communication skills required
  • Must pass all background and security checks and prove eligibility for employment in the United States.
  • Excellent listening and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing situations
  • Ability to act under pressure
  • Knowledge of the servicing and maintenance of simple power, heating and cooling units
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building maintenance trades
  • Ability to do routine mechanical or electrical maintenance and care for tools and equipment
  • Ability to work from sketches, drawings and blueprint

Physical Demands

  • Walk, lift up to 75lbs., crawl, bend, climb and stretch
  • Work in tiresome and or tight positions for long periods of time
  • Climb ladders

Working Conditions

  • Work in extreme temperatures and inclement weather
  • Work at levels up to 50 feet in height
  • Able to use equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom etc.
  • May need to work long hours, return to work on an emergency basis, work overtime and work weekends
  • Occasional exposure to noise, smells, dust and fumes normally associated in an aviation environment
