Job Description:

The Chief Inspector develops, implements, and monitors the inspection program for both the Part 135 Air Carrier and the Part 145 Repair Station Certificates to ensure the maintenance of aircraft and associated equipment conforms to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and manufacturers’ specifications. Possesses the final authority to release airframes, engines, propellers, appliances, and emergency equipment to service. Works closely with all maintenance staff to ensure adherence to all standards, policies, and procedures and serves as a liaison with local FAA. Reports to the Director of Maintenance related to Part 135 Air Carrier responsibilities and to the VP/GM of Aircraft Maintenance related to Part 145 Repair Station responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct personnel assigned to Quality Control including personnel delegated inspection functions
  • Final review of paperwork for completeness.  Ensure appropriate entries are made in permanent maintenance records and that only authorized signatures are used for airworthiness release and log book entries
  • Maintain in current status documents and log book entries, technical information necessary to perform maintenance, preventative maintenance, and alterations
  • Maintain in current status, pertinent FAR’s, FAA Advisory Circulars, FAA Type Certificate Data Sheets for Aircraft, Engines and Propellers and FAA Airworthiness Directives
  • Change and revise as necessary the Part 135 maintenance manual system and the Part 145 RSQCM. Changes will be coordinated with the Director of Maintenance and VP of Maintenance respectively
  • Oversee Inspection of incoming material, parts, components and appliances; ensure proper identification, storage/protection, segregation of serviceable, un-repairable and rejected items, and proper tags/identifications
  • Monitor aircraft discrepancy records to ascertain that corrective action has been taken on all mechanical irregularities listed by the pilot, in accordance with procedures specified in manual
  • Ensure proper execution of the prescribed FAA forms for major repair or major alteration
  • Assist any authorized representative of the FAA in conducting an inspection of company operated aircraft or company facilities
  • Gather and record data sufficient to monitor the performance reliability of the aircraft, components, accessories and appliances
  • Develop and maintain all required part 135 and 145 manuals including the development of forms as necessary
  • Oversee the complete record keeping associated with the training program, including the scheduling  and compliance with computer based training
  • Perform self-evaluation of repair station when adding aircraft to the capabilities list
  • Establish procedures for all air carrier aircraft worked on by the repair station
  • Collaborate on, support, and implement  the initiatives and directives of senior management
  • Interface effectively with customers external and internal, including flight crews, charter coordinators, accounting, and senior management
  • Assist the Director of Maintenance as requested

 

Experience and Skills:

  • High school diploma, college education preferred
  • Must have A&P/IA-FAA certification
  • Must be knowledgeable of the applicable Manufacturers maintenance manual, company operations specifications, FAR’s and applicable portions of the company operations and maintenance manuals
  • Computer literate in MS Office, with the ability to learn new software as required
  • Professional verbal/written communication skills required.
  • Must pass all conducted drug/alcohol screens, background and security checks and prove eligibility for employment in the United States.
