Job Description:

Position Summary

To repair and maintain Avionics system and components used for aircraft navigation and radio communications, weather radar systems and other instruments and computers which control flight, engine and other primary functions. Carries out other duties as assigned. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Removes avionics and electrical installations, cockpit/cabin seats, interior and floorboards to gain access and performs functional and operational checks on aircraft avionics systems.
  • Measure, calculate and determine wire lengths and requirements; verify and reconcile with engineering drawings.
  • Interprets prints and schematics of avionics systems to modify or troubleshoot electronic systems.
  • Test and troubleshoots aircraft radios, radar, cabin management system, navigation, gyros, remote compass and guidance systems.
  • Repairs, modifies and/or builds new equipment and systems in conformance with company, customer, FCC and other regulatory specifications.
  • Conducts pre-flight check-out of avionics equipment and may be required to assist the flight crew in airborne checks.
  • Complies with all safety, environmental and general maintenance policies.
  • On-call and overtime duties are required.
  • Miscellaneous other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to various manufacturers’ standards and practices and have a thorough knowledge of various federal and military standards including FAA Advisory Circulars.
  • Fabricates wiring harnesses, solder connector plugs, strips and hand crimp wiring, identifies wiring and fabricates and installs surface control indicating systems, performs terminal splicing, wires junction boxes, and  performs many other electrical bench or installation work as necessary to complete the electrical repair or modification of the aircraft.
  • Must be totally aware of different power sources such as main buss, essential buss, AC, DC, and high voltage systems.
  • Operation of normal repair and diagnostic equipment
  • May require lifting over 70lbs

 

Experience and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED; some college preferred
  • A&P or FAA Repairman Certificate required
  • Computer literate with the ability to learn new software as required
  • Professional verbal/written communication skills required. 
  • Must pass all conducted random drug screening, background and security checks and prove eligibility for employment in the United States.
  • Excellent listening and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information
  • Ability to work  under pressure and be adaptable to change on a constant basis

 

Physical Demands.

  • Walk, lift up to 70lbs., crawl, bend, climb and stretch
  • Work in tiresome and or tight positions for long periods of time
  • Climb ladders
